Academics at Basil Woods
Learning that makes sense. Learning that sticks.
Our Academic Philosophy
Strong basics. Curious minds. Confident learners.
Every child learns differently, and we respect that. Our teaching focuses on clear concepts, steady progress, and plenty of room to think, explore, and ask “why”.
Yes, we prepare students for exams. But we also prepare them to think independently, solve problems, and keep learning long after school hours end.
The Four Quotients Framework
Learning beyond textbooks.
The foundation of our academic model.
Our academic approach is built around four key areas that shape how children learn and grow. These guide classroom teaching, activities, and everyday school life.
Physical
Quotient
Healthy bodies support active minds. From movement breaks in class to sports and wellness routines, children learn the value of staying active, balanced, and resilient.
Intellectual
Quotient
Thinking, not memorising. Whether it’s solving a math problem in a new way or debating a science idea, students are encouraged to think deeply, ask questions, and truly understand concepts.
Emotional
Quotient
Learning to understand yourself and others. Children learn how to express feelings, work in teams, handle setbacks, and build healthy friendships. Group projects and classroom discussions play a big role here.
Spiritual
Quotient
Finding meaning and values in everyday learning. Through reflection, ethical conversations, and community involvement, students learn about purpose, kindness, and responsibility in simple, age-appropriate ways.
Our Academic Curriculum
Clear. Relevant. Built for the future.
We follow the CBSE curriculum from Early Years to Grade 10, with strong foundations in language, mathematics, sciences, social sciences, arts, digital skills, and culture.
The focus is on understanding concepts, not rote learning. For example, students don’t just memorise formulas. They learn where and how to apply them in real situations.

The Learning Journey
Early Years to High School.
Each phase builds progressively - offering age-appropriate rigour, exploration, and skill development.
Early Years (Nursery to UKG)
Learning through play, stories, songs, and hands-on activities. Children build language skills, early numeracy, creativity, and confidence in a joyful setting.
Primary School (Grades 1 to 5)
Strong reading, writing, and maths skills are developed alongside science exploration, social awareness, and communication. Children begin to explain their thinking, not just give answers.
Middle School (Grades 6 to 8)
Subjects become more detailed. Students work in labs, take part in group projects, and learn to analyse, question, and organise their ideas.
High School (Grades 9 and 10)
Focused academic depth, exam readiness, analytical writing, and early career exposure. Students also take on leadership roles and learn to manage responsibility.
Assessments & Reporting
Supportive. Honest. Growth-oriented.
We use a balanced assessment system that includes:
Regular formative assessments
Term-end evaluations
Projects and performance tasks
Rubric-based grading
Meaningful parent-teacher conversations
Assessments help us understand progress. They do not label or limit a child.
Our Teachers
Guides, mentors, and partners in learning.
Teachers at Basil Woods are trained continuously in CBSE standards, inquiry-led teaching, and inclusive classroom practices. More than anything, they know their students well and care deeply about their growth.
A Space Designed for Learning
Calm classrooms, open areas, and safe spaces designed for focus and creativity. With engaging materials and age-appropriate technology, children feel comfortable, curious, and ready to learn every day.
